10 th Aug 2026: IFSCA Tightens Compliance on Validity of SEZ Approvals<\/strong>
\nThe International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) has directed all regulated
\nentities to ensure that they continuously hold a valid Letter of Approval (LoA) under the
\nSpecial Economic Zones (SEZ) Act, along with the relevant IFSCA registration, licence or
\nother regulatory approval.<\/p>\n

The regulator clarified that a valid LoA is a prerequisite for obtaining IFSCA approvals and
\nconducting permissible activities within an International Financial Services Centre (IFSC).
\nEntities must also ensure timely renewal of their LoAs, with renewal applications required to
\nbe submitted at least two months before expiry.<\/p>\n

IFSCA has cautioned entities against conducting business without valid approvals. Non-
\ncompliance could attract penal or enforcement action under the IFSCA Act, SEZ Act and
\nrelated regulations.<\/p>\n

The move reinforces IFSCA\u2019s focus on maintaining continuous regulatory compliance among
\nentities operating within India\u2019s IFSC ecosystem.<\/p>\n

\n11 th Aug 2026: IFSCA Warns Against Misuse of Logo and Impersonation<\/strong>
\nScams<\/strong>
\nThe International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) has warned the public and
\nmarket participants about unauthorised use of its logo and false claims of regulatory approval
\nby certain entities.<\/p>\n

The regulator cautioned that its logo must not be used on websites, social media,
\nadvertisements or other marketing material without permission. Entities also cannot claim to
\nbe authorised, registered or regulated by IFSCA unless such approval has been formally
\ngranted and remains valid.<\/p>\n

IFSCA has urged stakeholders to verify an entity\u2019s regulatory status through its official
\ndirectory before entering into any transaction. It has also warned against impersonation,
\ndeepfakes, \u201cboss scams\u201d and other forms of digital fraud involving the IFSC ecosystem.<\/p>\n

The regulator clarified that official IFSCA communications are issued through email
\naddresses ending in @ifsca.gov.in and advised the public to verify the authenticity of
\nsuspicious communications.<\/p>\n

The move underscores IFSCA\u2019s efforts to protect investors and maintain the integrity of the
\nIFSC financial ecosystem.<\/p>\n

\n18 th Aug 2026: IFSCA Proposes GPU Leasing Framework to Boost India\u2019s<\/strong>
\nAI Infrastructure<\/strong>
\nThe International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) has issued a consultation
\npaper proposing to recognise operating leases, including hybrid operating-financial leases, of
\nGPUs and related data-centre equipment as a financial product in GIFT IFSC.<\/p>\n

The move comes as demand for AI computing infrastructure surges globally. The GPU
\nmarket, valued at around $65 billion in 2024, is projected to reach $400\u2013500 billion by 2030,
\nimplying annual growth of roughly 30\u201335%.<\/p>\n

India currently has less than 5% of global AI-optimised computing capacity and remains
\nalmost entirely dependent on imports for GPUs. India\u2019s AI GPU capacity stood at around
\n38,000 units in October 2025 and is expected to reach 1 lakh by end-2026. Over the next five
\nyears, AI adoption could drive deployment of 6.5\u20137 lakh GPUs in Indian data centres,
\npotentially creating a $23 billion investment opportunity.<\/p>\n

IFSCA believes leasing can help bridge this gap by allowing cloud providers, data-centre
\noperators, hyperscalers and enterprises to access expensive computing infrastructure without
\nmaking large upfront investments. It also shifts technology-obsolescence and residual-value
\nrisks to specialised lessors, which can redeploy equipment as technology and workloads
\nevolve.<\/p>\n

The proposed framework is aimed at attracting GPU and data-centre equipment leasing
\nactivity to GIFT IFSC, similar to the established aircraft and ship-leasing models. If
\nimplemented, it could strengthen GIFT IFSC\u2019s role in financing India\u2019s rapidly expanding AI
\nand data-centre infrastructure.<\/p>\n

\n31 st Aug 2026: IFSCA and Taiwan\u2019s FSC Deepen Fintech Cooperation<\/strong>
\nIndia\u2019s International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) and Taiwan\u2019s Financial
\nSupervisory Commission (FSC) have entered into a new cooperation agreement focused on
\nfintech, strengthening regulatory collaboration between the two jurisdictions.<\/p>\n

The agreement, signed by IFSCA Chairperson K. Rajaraman and FSC Vice Chairperson Dr.
\nYen-Liang Chen, was operationalised on August 28, 2026, during the 19th India-Taiwan
\nEconomic Consultations in Bengaluru.<\/p>\n

The agreement establishes a referral mechanism for fintech innovators looking to expand into
\neach other\u2019s markets. It will also facilitate the exchange of information on emerging financial
\ntechnologies, innovative products, market trends and regulatory developments.<\/p>\n

The latest agreement builds on the broader MoU signed between IFSCA and FSC in
\nDecember 2025, signalling deeper cooperation as both jurisdictions seek to support fintech
